Germany's Sebastian Vettel took out the Valencia leg of the European Grand Prix on Sunday, securing his sixth win in eight races of the 2011 Formula One season.

The defending world champion comfortably held off the challenges of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Red Bull teammate Mark Webber to register his second successive victory at the Valencia circuit. Vettel finished more than 10 seconds ahead of Alonso.

Vettel's countryman Nico Rosberg finished seventh for Mercedes.

"Ooooooh yes, baby!" screamed Vettel over his team radio after winning. "That's better than anything you can imagine this year. Yes. Yehhhh!"

Vettel had begun in pole position alongside Webber and ahead of Lewis Hamilton's McLaren and Alonso, and led from the starting gun.

The win pushes Vettel further ahead in the overall standings. The 23-year-old has now amassed 186 points, 77 clear of Webber and McLaren's Jenson Button.
