TT Margot Käßmann: Käßmann made a huge impact as head of Lutheran Church Council

Michael BärFebruary 25, 2010

Welcome Back. Four months ago, the first woman was chosen to lead Germany's largest Protestant church. Margot Kässmann was welcomed as a catalyst for change, and quickly won respect. But her term of office came to an abrupt end after she was caught drink-driving last weekend. Though she had only been in this position briefly - Kässmann made a huge impact. She was known for her outspoken views on Germany's mission in Afghanistan but also for her abilty to capture the public mood as she did when the national goalkeeper killed himself.
