Tsunami hits Samoan islands: The scale of the disaster is still not clear and the death toll is rising with many people reported missing

Only a few hours before the earthquake off Sumatra there was a huge quake deep under the sea near the Samoan islands, which triggered a tsunami. Eyewitnesses reported that waves up to seven metres high hit the beaches, levelling everything in their path. Whole villages were destroyed.
