Thousands gather in the town of Nazareth for the biggest Mass of the pope's Mideast tour

Ema Nevenka JülichMay 14, 2009

Pope Benedict has held the largest open air mass of his Middle East trip. At an amphitheater overlooking Nazareth, he called on Christians and Muslims to reject hatred and live in peace. Shortly the the pope will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His right wing government has not committed itself to an independent Palestinian state, a goal to which the pope gave his support in speeches yesterday. +++SYN-MAZ+++
