The German government has agreed to help rescue the troubled IKB bank with a package worth 1.5-Billion euros. The government says it will contribute one-Billion euros of that amount, and is calling on other banks and investors to provide the rest. Losses from the IKB's exposure to the US sub-prime mortgage crisis have been estimated at 21-Billion euros.
