The German cabinet has approved an economic stimulus package of record proportions. The measures planned by Chancellor Angela Merkel's government include a massive 50 B-billion euro stimulus packet for the next two years, with tax cuts and investments in education and infrastructure. But the proposals have meant record levels of new public borrowing. That's upset finance minister..whose stated objective was to keep the country's budget balanced.
