The EU parliament backs Jose Manuel Barroso for a second term as European Commission president

Portugal's Jose Manuel Barroso will serve another term as president of the European Commission. He stood unopposed and had the unanimous support of all EU governments, but did face some opposition within the European parliament. It nonetheless gave him a comfortable majority.
