Some 500 German border police have been demonstrating against the opening of the country's border with Poland. They say the move will not only lead to a loss of jobs for many of those working with border security units - but to an increase in crime as well. From December 21st, Poland and 8 other countries are due to enter the Schengen Agreement, which abolishes border controls between EU members. Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble has defended the decision - saying Polish border guards have the technology and the training to protect the new eastern border of the EU. +++MAZ+++
