German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats have suffered a setback at a regional election in Hessen. State Premier Roland Koch, an influential figure at national level, saw his lead shrink to just POINT ONE of a percent over the Social Democrats. But there was better news for the conservatives in Lower Saxony, where state premier Christian Wulff was re-elected.
