Nobel Peace Prize for Obama - Committee says Obama embodies a yearning for change in American Policy

Constanze TressOctober 9, 2009

U.S. President Barack Obama has said he was "humbled" upon hearing that he was the recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel committee says the President deserved the award for his calls to reduce the world's stockpile of nuclear weapons and for his efforts to promote world peace. Obama started out his term with the promise to offer an outstretched hand to governments openly hostile to American policy. He's also worked to repair America's frayed relations with many of its allies estranged by the former administration.
