Unofficial results from Kosovo' parliamentary elections show opposition leader Hashim Thaqi 's party gaining the most votes. He's promising speedy independance from Serbia, but Belgrade remains fiercely opposed. The province is currently administered by the UN, and its future status remains unclear. A troika of mediators consisting of the EU, the US and Russia have been struggling to negotiate a political solution. They're expected to deliver their final recommendations next month.
