As Israel continues its ground offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, infantry and tanks have apparently cut a swathe through the territory and surrounded Gaza City. At least 23 Palestinians -- most of them civilians -- have been reported dead in the incursion so far. And 30 Israeli soldiers have been wounded -- two seriously. In another development, the European Union say it will provide three million euros in in urgent humanitarian aid for people in the Gaza area.
