ID: Paying by credit card is especially taken for granted in the US

Marcus SchlenchAugust 3, 2010

Consumerism in the western world is the byword for success. Hardly a day goes by without business trying to lure us with something shiny and new, but not necessarily something we need. Getting into debt to buy this new product has never been easier. banks are only too happy to give us credit cards. The sheer convenience out weighs the more prudent habit of stopping and thinking about whether we really need the product in the first place. Paying by credit card is especially taken for granted in the US, but its a risky business as well. Lose your job and you land in the credit card trap. We caught up with one family in the US which is very conscious of the pitfalls of credit card debt.
