Greece braces for fresh protests as Prime Minister George Papandreou heads to Germany for talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel

Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou heads to Berlin today to seek support from Chancellor Angela Merkel in his struggle to tackle his country's debt crisis. Although a five-billion-euro bond issue attracted bids worth 16 billion on Thursday - markets are still keeping a close eye on Greek finances and their possible impact on the euro. Merkel, along with the European Central Bank and other EU governments, has welcomed Athen's new austerity plan - but says financial aid is not on the table.
