Germany´s Lufthansa cancels hundreds of flights, as its pilots begin a four-day strike

Constanze TressFebruary 22, 2010

Pilots from Germany´s largest airline Lufthansa have started a four day strike - the biggest industrial action in the country's airline history. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled and subsidaries GermanWings and Lufthansa Cargo have also been affected. The company had offered last-minute talks to its pilots. This was in a bid to avert the strike that could disrupt aviation worldwide. But the pilot's union, Cockpit, rejected the offer, saying it couldn´t accept the airline´s conditions for the talks.
