The German government is putting the finishing touches on a 50- Bbillion Euro domestic stimulous package that it hopes will soften the blow of the expected economic downturn. But the size of the package and target of spending have triggered lively political debate. Above all the government wants to keep workers on the job in key industries threatened by the economic slowdown.
