German chancellor Angela Merkel has moved to quell fears of break-up of the eurozone.. saying Germany would never abandon its European partners. She was speaking ahead of a key EU summit in Brussels tomorrow... aimed at discussing the eurozone debt crisis and shoring up the euro. However in her speech at the Bundestag today Merkel repeated her opposition to joint European bonds, describing them as a mistake.
