# Here in Germany, the last hour has seen parliament discussing the dramatic escalation of tensions over a controversial rail construction project in central Stuttgart. Police yestersday turned water cannons and pepper spray on protestors - injuring upwards of one hundred people. Thousands of residents had showed up to stop heavy equipment from cutting down trees for the project - which has the strong backing for Chancellor Angela Merkel.
