# Welcome Back. The United Nations Security Council is the UN's most powerful entity. It's said anyone who wants to know or influence what's discussed in the Security Council needs excellent contacts - or else a seat on the Council. Germany has applied for a non permanent seat this year. These non-permanent seats are distributed according to region. Germany is competing for one of two seats in the bloc "western Europe and other states" - along with Canada and Portgual - who are also hoping to join the exclusive club.
