The German government is warning Syrian President Bashar al Assad will lose his legitimacy to rule if he does not end the military crackdown on protesters. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have recalled their ambassadors for consultations. Activists say the crackdown continues, claiming Syrian securtiy forces shot dead a mother and her two children trying to flee an army assault on their city Monday. Dozens of people were killed over the weekend.
