The US presidential candidates are stepping their campaigns into high gear in the run-up to next Tuesday's general election. Democratic candidate Barack Obama hit the airwaves on Wednesday with a $4 million dollar, 30 minute prime time TV ad. He also held a rally in Florida with former President Bill Clinton. His rival, Republican John McCain also held a series of smaller rallies across battleground states to try to tighten the race. With five days left before America votes, latest opinion polls show Obama with about a 7 point lead over McCain. +++syn+++
