On the second day of her trip to Israel, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has attended a service at the Yad Veshem holocaust memorial. Merkel also participated in a joint meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his cabinet. Both countries hope this visit will usher in a new phase in bilateral relations. Merkel is visiting the country to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel's founding. +++ SYN MAZ+++
