Albanians are voting for a new parliament - in elections that could be decisive for future EU membership

It's a big day in Albania, where people are voting in a parliamentary election seen as a key test of whether, or not, the country is ready to move closer to realising it goal of eventually becoming a member of the European Union. Just over three million people are entitled to vote in what is the seventh parliamentary election since the fall of communism in Albania in 1990. However, none of the previous six has met international standards.
