A court in Chad has sentenced six French aid workers to eight years of hard labour after finding them guilty of attempting to kidnap children from the country. The sentence was handed down on the fourth day of their trial in the capital N'Djamena. The French foreign ministry says it will appeal to the authorities in Chad to let the aid workers serve their sentence in France.
