Aid reaches Bangladesh flood victims
International relief workers and the Bangladesh military say they are now providing aid to all regions of the country devastated by a cyclone last week. Almost 3,500 people are believed to have died in the storm and subsequent flooding. Helicopters, planes and ships, supported by thousands of troops and aid workers, have been delivering needed supplies to refugees. The government in Dhaka said aid would increase in coming weeks as 142 million dollars in promised emergency relief from international donors arrives. Health officials are warning of the growing danger of waterborne disease due to lack of drinking water and medicine.
