New Thai PM to deliver policy speech at Foreign Ministry

The new Thai prime minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, is now expected to deliver his first policy speech at the country's foreign ministry. This, after thousands of protesters gathered to blockade the parliament  for a second day. A source from the prime minister's office told reporters in Bangkok that parliament had confirmed that the move would be legal. He said Abhisit would deliver the speech as soon as a quorum of parliamentarians had gathered at the foreign ministry. Supporters of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra have been blocking access to the parliament building, demanding that the new government step down. The 44-year-old Abhisit won a parliamentary vote two weeks ago to become Thailand's third premier in four months. This came after a court order earlier this month dissolved the former ruling party made up of Thaksin loyalists.
