More riots in Athens for a 7th day in a row

Greek riot police clashed with youths for a seventh straight day in a row in the capital Athens. Around 4000 students marched on the parliament, some hurling firebombs and stones at police who responded with tear gas. Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, who was attending the EU summit in Brussels, again dismissed opposition calls to quit over the riots that erupted after a 15-year old teenager was killed by a police bullet. Young people damaged looted or set fire to hundreds of banks, stores and public buildings in the week-long violence.
