Bush outlines climate policy principles
President George W. Bush has called for a halt in the growth of US greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. In a speech on global warming delivered at the White House, Bush said developing new technology was the key to combating climate change. However while he offered broad principles on the direction that the US should take, his speech was short on specific targets. He also warned the US Congress against passing climate legislation that could hurt economic growth. Observers say the speech was aimed at influencing international climate change talks in Paris later this week, as well as a debate in the US Congress in June.
