Auf Wiedersehen, USA?

DW staff (cat)October 30, 2008

Though the German population is clearly in favor of a President Obama, if US voters send John McCain into the Oval Office, Germans might be able to take heart in having Heidi Klum back for themselves.

Celebrity power couple Heidi Klum and husband Seal said they'd leave the US if Republican candidate John McCain wins the presidential race, Seal told Vanity Fair magazine.

"If McCain is elected and America staggers on further towards the abyss, then we will leave the country," he said. "That is not a problem for us."

Although unable to vote in the forthcoming election, the British singer said he feels certain the country he and Klum now call home -- for now -- is ready for a change.

Although Seal said he doesn't idolize McCain's Democratic rival Barack Obama like some, he did admit, "There is no doubt that he is a great man, and I would put a cross next to his name immediately, if I could."

Though Seal didn't reveal exactly where he and Heidi would take their children if McCain wins, Germans are hopeful that a love for her homeland could lure the supermodel and her family back to Germany.
