When people hear the name "Erfurt", they think of the capital of the state of Thuringia. But it's also the name of the family that has been producing wood-chip wallpaper in Wuppertal for 185 years. The company is now led by the seventh generation of owners. It has 360 employees, whom management has treated in a special way for 50 years. Wilhelm Erfurt, who headed the company from 1952 until 1998 built apartments for his workers, sent their children on vacation to Sylt Island every year, and founded an association to care for employees in need. And the government awarded him the federal cross of merit for it. The Erfurt company is banking on Germany, despite globalization. Hagen Tober visited company headquarters on the Wupper River.
