Germany Bans Two Egyptian Imams

Two Egyptian imams have been banned from travelling to Germany under new legislation aimed at so-called 'hate preachers', officials said Thursday. According to an interior ministry spokesman for the city-state of Bremen, one of the men, a 43-year-old who is currently in Egypt, had called for "global resistance against the American and Israeli infidels". in mosques on more than one occasion. He has been banned from entering Bremen, a northern port city, where he had been living for six years. The southern region of Baden-Württemberg announced it had banned a 37-year-old imam who called for Muslims to "join the fight for the faith and be prepared to die" and said "God gives the mujahedin the possibility and the strength to catch the blinded devils and kill them". The imam was picked up in a police raid in January on a cultural center in the town of Neu-Ulm. The imams' incriminating words are banned under legislation introduced in Germany on January 1 which makes it easier to outlaw non-German political and religious figures who incite hate or violence.
