Interview: British artist Liam Gillick is German rep at Venice Biennale

British artist Liam Gillick represents the German Pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale. He tells DW about the show, what visitors to the exhibit can expect and how the global finance crisis is making itself felt.

Although critic, curator, designer and writer Liam Gillick lives and works in New York and London, he has produced much of his work in Germany, primarily focusing on emergent post-socialist systems and new social models in Europe. The main theme of Gillick's work is the varied phenomena of social utopias that he stages via hypothetical social models, both visual and literary.
