Porn Monk

A monk had been attempting to steal four gay pornographic films when caught by the Wuerzburg sex shop assistant in December 2007.

Found to have more than just his rosary beads in his pockets, the monk abandoned his load and fled the scene.

Local police later caught the man and searched his monastery of residence, the 900-year-old Maria Laachs Abbey in Rhineland-Palatinate, where they found 230 pornographic films in his abode.

Forty-two of the films were judged to have been stolen from the sex shop.

Strict observance of the vows of chastity and poverty were not given as reasons for the theft.
