Norwegian police have answered more questions about how they responded to last Friday's twin attacks by Anders Behring Breivik in Oslo and on Utoeya Island.

Police spokesman Johan Fredriksen told reporters on Thursday that the picture was "getting clearer" and that police would release more details soon.

Breivik has claimed responsibility for a bombing in the government quarter of the capital and a shooting spree in which 76 people were killed.

Breivik has been in custody since his arrest on the day of the attacks and has been placed on suicide watch. Fredriksen says police will interrogate Breivik again this Friday.

Police end search for bodies

Police also said they have ended their six-day search for the last of those missing around Utoeya island, where 68 people were killed in the gun rampage.

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg had earlier announced the creation of a special commission to investigate the incident.

The authorities have faced strong criticism for what was seen as a slow response to the attacks.
